CATALYZING A MORE VIBRANT URBAN FABRIC

An homage to the city of Austin, Canopy Hotel is an infill project turned urban retreat that merges the vibrant, artistic energy of the West 6th Street neighborhood with the unique natural setting of Austin’s Hill Country. The 6-story boutique hotel features 140 guest rooms and underground parking along with shared spaces designed to immerse guests in the neighborhood. A bar and restaurant open up to West 6th while a lush pool deck and flexible event room overlook the city from the second level.

A primary project goal was to reintroduce and restore native vegetation to the previously developed site, which had no water resource features. The design team increased the amount of outdoor space and integrated those spaces throughout the design, aiming to restore natural hydrological features typically associated with the local environment. A lush courtyard was designed with natural materials, greenery, and water, serving as the anchor of the property.
