macinnis kraus
designer
MacInnis enjoys exploring the relationship between the human spirit and the built environment: places where architecture frames encounters with nature, ritual, and community. Drawn to tactile acts of making, he values materiality and the subtle trace of the hand in the finished work. An unexpected obsession with throwing pottery led him from engineering into architecture, shaping his appreciation for form, tactility, and process. MacInnis holds a BS in engineering from Vanderbilt University and an M.Arch from UT Austin.
Beyond work, MacInnis draws energy from time outdoors. Thru-hiking the Appalachian Trail in 2021 reinforced his “travel light” approach to life. In Austin, he enjoys exploring the city’s trails by foot or bike and spending time in parks slacklining, playing disc golf, and swimming. Picking guitar and banjo keeps him connected to his Appalachian roots.
