isabella de la iglesia
designer
Isabella de la Iglesia is an architectural designer from San Marcos, Texas. With a background in art, she feels a keen sensitivity to place and the ethics of design practice. In her adaptive reuse work, she seeks to acknowledge a building’s past without directly preserving or replicating it, modifying it for new needs, people, and histories. She also seeks to root materiality sustainably in context, and have her form and structural expression stem from and adapt past vernacular. Isabella approaches each design problem thoughtfully at multiple scales, able to work with a clear design question and overall vision but with a keen eye for artful detailing. Throughout her career, she hopes to mold humanely significant spaces that speak to art and architectural history, the inherent beauty of place, and simply who we are as people.
Isabella holds a Bachelor of Architecture and a Bachelor of Arts in Architecture from Rice University in Houston, Texas, and has previously worked in New Haven, Connecticut and San Francisco, California.
